The court accused the defendants of illegal crowding, bullying, vandalising public and private property, in addition to disrupting public peace.

This incident took place in August 2013 when supporters of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi stormed into the Media Production City one month after the military ousted him following mass protests against his rule.

Muslim Brotherhood leaders and supporters have often found themselves behind bars and facing courts since the ouster of Brotherhood member and former President Mursi in July last year. A court in Minya has served over 1000 Brotherhood supporters preliminary death sentences in March and April 2014.
