Trial of the Century

Last week’s article had exactly same title added to it “The” that is it was The Trial of the Century; I focused on two things which were:

1. False Accusations of police brutality and killing people upon the 25th January demands.
2. My own testimony confirming what Habib El Adly said about the false accusations was true.
As on Wednesday 16th August 2014 the hearings of that trial ended with a memorial last speech -probably- from former president Mubarak that ignited lots of reactions I deem it necessary to answer some questions or remarks about it.
Mubarak’s accusations
Former president Mubarak was on trial from over 3 years accused of Killing people of Egypt in riot, using his powers for illegal earnings and wasting national income selling Gas to Israel under priced!
So far, in the Egyptian criminal law there is no crime called “Corrupting Political Life” or any similar wording accusation or crime to be tried for!
A lot of accusations and comments followed since that date 13/08/2014 but before answering or commenting on them I would like to make it clear, I was not for Mubarak upon the January 25th events, I was against the idea that Mubarak’s son will succeed him in powers and presidency -was the story true or just a rumour to excite protesters is not the point I believed then it was TRUE- I recall huge arguments, right before leaving Egypt with my Egyptian friends about who possibly can fit for president, we never found one, and left to celebrate Christmas 2010 with family! There I learned but the Church that was blown up Christmas night! I did not like the official reaction and another minus was added to their shares of love and loyalty! I was not affected by his sentimental speech of February 2011 on the contrary I was alerted, I feared simplicity and forgiving nature of Egyptians might push them to let go and the -so called then- revolution fails and was extremely happy for the final outcome, but since then, with the bloody aggressive French revolution in mind, I did not want Egyptians to become butchers of revenge, we must never forget that one day he defended our country!
Several times, in the past 3 years, and when facts were still hidden I called to let go of Mubarak, enough is enough we must never forget he defended Egypt! I never really cared about the rest of the accused, after all police brutality was a fact for me, a fact that I analyse as follows:
Decency in behaviour is the norm; no one would be emphasized with a decent policeman!
Brutality is a phenomenon especially in a policeman!
People always tell stories about phenomenon’s not normal life, and we love exaggerating, one police officer corrupt in a police station makes the whole police station a corrupt one!
Finally policemen are human beings; there is the good, the bad, and the ugly!
With this in mind I never really cared about Habib El Adly and his fellow assistants, but upon his own defence in the trial, I was convinced he was telling the truth about killing people, but also deep inside myself I cannot blame Muslim Brotherhood -or Ikhwan- alone of all the killing that took place, I know for sure lots of people out there had serious problems with brutal police officers, some might had lost even loved people due to this brutality, they had good reasons to feel happy seeing a police guy being tortured to death or even help Ikhwan and kill with them!
As accusations does not include mismanagement I would not be surprised if ex-interior minister is acquitted, but I have a serious issue with how Muslim Brotherhood was treated by all security forces, Police, National Security, Intelligence what so ever people dealt with them whomever saw in them scared obedient and predictable guys and a source of information was wrong and needs to be accounted for that! Results, the amount of damage done proves the way security forces saw Muslim Brotherhood was totally wrong!
I know how intelligence should work and expect the unexpected; I know for sure how spy recruiters remain alerted 24 hours a day expecting Betrayal and treason from their own recruited spies!
With all due respect to R.I.P. Omar Soliman and his genius work in many aspects, I would never let go of this issue and demand a full investigation on: How can you trust people betrayed their own people?
I rest my case knowing that for security reasons this issue cannot be discussed in public, and seriously hope for a better more secured future it is resolved so that we can focus on rebuilding the country that stood tall in front of all those conspirators due to God’s Blessing to Egypt and Egyptians!
May God keep blessing Egypt and Egyptians forever Amen!
