Mubarak trial over killing 25 Jan protesters postponed to 3 June

The Cairo Criminal Court on Sunday decided to postpone the trial of former President Hosni Mubarak, his sons Alaa and Gamal, his Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six of his aides in a case known as the "Trial of the Century” to 3 June to hear the defense.

The defendants are all charged with killing protesters during the 25 January revolution.

The defense of Hassan Abdel Rahman, head of the dissolved State Security Apparatus, referred in the last session to testimonies from Omar Suleiman and Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who said foreign elements of the Ezz Eddin al-Qassam Brigade, Hamas and Hezbollah were in Tahrir Square and also broke into the prisons.

The defense contended that there are 76 foreign defendants in the jail break case and claimed what happened on 25 January was plotted by the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas for Egypt and other Arab countries to fall.
