The Cairo Criminal Court decided Sunday to consider on April 8 a request to change the judge prosecuting the case known as the “Rabaa al-Adaweya plan.”
During the second hearing in the case Sunday, the court suspended the session after receiving evidence from the Court of Appeal of the request submitted by Salah Sultan, one of the defendants, to change the judge.
Fifty-one defendants are being tried in this case, 19 of whom are fugitives being tried in absentia.
The defendants are charged of inciting violence and coordinating attacks by the Muslim Brotherhood against police forces that dispersed the Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Square sit-ins and “planning to overthrow the government” formed after the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi on July 3.
