Egypts Sisi issues decree forming academy to train youth for leadership roles

Egypt s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has issued a decree ordering the formation of the National Academy to Train and Qualify Youth, state-news agency MENA reported on Monday.

The academy, which is scheduled to start operating in October, will aim to train young people for public service, as well as improve their abilities and skills, MENA added.

The academy s headquarters have been constructed in 6 October city on the outskirts of Cairo; the complex includes six buildings and spans 10,000 square metres.

The academy s curriculum has been designed in cooperation with a number of international scientific institutions and aims to follow that of France s École nationale d administration.

The academy will fall under the jurisdiction of the presidency.

A board of trustees for the academy will be headed by the prime minister and will include representatives from the presidency, the ministries of higher education, planning, and finance, and a number of distinguished figures.

The formation of the academy was one of the recommendations of a youth conference in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2016.

The conference was the first in a series of events organised by the presidency around the country that aimed at tackling issues relevant to Egypt s young people, including enhancing their political participation and preparing them for future leadership roles.
