Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark See, moved Fr. Bishoy Andrawes, priest of St. Mark's Church in Washington, to another church in the United States that will be announced later.
In a statement, the Coptic Orthodox Church in North America said that the priest has written an apology in his own handwriting for his former decision to resign from the priesthood. Moreover, he promised to stop using any non-orthodox methods in the service.
On January 8th 2016, Fr Bishoy Andrawes, head priest of St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church Washington DC, resigned from the priesthood after refusing to cease propounding some of the Pentecostal teachings of Atef Aziz who was deprived by the Church.
Pope assigned Father Tadros Yacob Malaty to minister in the Church of St. Mark for a limited period.
