Supreme State Security Prosecution began investigations Tuesday with suspects in the church shooting that took place Jan. 28.
The shooting occurred in 6 October City and resulted in the killing of a police officer, Mohamed Taha, who was responsible for securing the church.
The suspects are also accused of other attacks, and investigations revealed that they embrace jihadist ideology against state facilities, including the police and army.
The main suspect confessed in the investigations that he was trained in Sinai, then decided to form his jihadist organization after June 30.
He also confessed that he committed the attack, and investigations indicated that another one of the suspects belonged to the Muslim Brotherhood who agreed with another suspect to commit vandalism during former President Mohamed Morsi’s trial.
Security forces exchanged fire with the suspects during the attack, and managed to arrest two suspects who were injured in the crossfire.
One of the suspects also told investigators that they were aiming to vandalize a jewelry shop.
The prosecution postponed investigations with another suspect until he recovers from his injuries.
