However, the family s connection to the priesthood goes back much further, with roots going back six generations to his paternal ancestor, Hegumen Abdelmasih, who was a priest in al-Mahalla who departed in the year 181 and was succeeded by his son, Hegumen Mikhail, who departed in 1840.
