Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark See, opened yesterday the new shrine of St. Athanasius at the great Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbassiya.
It’s worth mentioning that the holy relics of St. Athanasius was brought 40 years ago from Rome by Pope Shenouda III.
The new shrine will contain as well the relics of Father Mikhail Ibrahim, Abba Samuel, Bishop of Services who died in 1981, and Abba Gregory, Bishop of Scientific Research who died in 2001.
