Update | Military court sentences one person to life
An Egyptian military court in Suez sentenced on Tuesday one of the supporters of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi to life imprisonment, three to 15 years in prison and acquitted 12 of them, a military source said.

The sentenced men were charged with torching four armored vehicles, setting fire to churches and throwing petrol bombs at military buildings in the city of Suez during the days from August 14 to August 16.

The court also sentenced 48 people to  penalties ranging from five to ten years in prison in relation to these charges, according to the army's official page.

Earlier news were reported that 11 people were sentenced to life imprisonment and  45 others to five years and eight were acquitted.

This is the first military tribunal to prosecute civilians since the state of emergency had been declared following the violent events that took place in August upon the state's dispersal of two sit-ins held by supporters of Mursi, leaving more than 1,000 people killed.
