Fate of Egypt's Interior Minister Remains Vague

Minister of Interior Mohamed Ibrahim stated on Saturday that he has not as yet been informed whether he will be keeping his post in the new cabinet.

Ibrahim added that a reshuffle within the ministry will be announced in a press conference on Sunday, adding that the police are doing their best to regain stability and security to the streets of Egypt.

Appointed by former Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri in December 2011, Ibrahim was severely criticised in Egypt's now-dissolved parliament following the Port Said disaster that saw over 70 football fans killed and hundreds injured. Many parliamentarians at the time called for his removal accusing the ministry of failing to secure the stadium.

Newly appointed Prime Minister Hisham Qandil revealed after meeting with president Morsi that the new cabinet will be officially announced on Thursday.
