Probes of Egypt's ‘corrupt elite’ reviewed

CAIRO - Egypt’s Chief  Prosecutor Abdel Meguid Mahmoud reviewed with Minister of Justice Mohamed Abdel Aziz, graft probes involving senior officials in the former Mubarak regime.

The meeting looked into developments of investigations in the corruption cases, sources said. They also discussed providing adequate security to courts during trials and investigation with the former ministers, officials and business tycoons, they added. On Saturday, scuffles broke out between lawyers and security officers in a court on the outskirts of the Egyptian capital disrupting the trial of the reviled former Interior Minister Habib el-Adli, and six other ministry officials on charges of killing protesters.
