The resurrection and the life

Jesus said,  I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die . Jesus trampled death and annulled its authority and he showed the world that he was indeed the head of life and the oppressor of death.

Father John Nassif, priest of the Church of the Virgin Mary in Chicago, said in his article  The Resurrection of the Savior  that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ was given to all humans to triumph over death and enjoy eternal life.
In the Old Testament, God revealed that a person s life is in his blood, and therefore, the blood of Christ gives us life and cleanse us from all sin. St. Paul talked about this precious blood saying:  He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. (Hebrews 9: 12)
The sacrament of communion is really appreciated by our church since it enables the congregation to united with the life of Jesus Christ and get to know Him as the apostle says:  I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death (Philippians 3: 10).  For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord s death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11: 26)
