Preview: Ahly expected to maintain winning start in Egyptian league

Ahly are likely to maintain their winning start in the Egyptian Premier League when they meet lowly Wadi Degla, who will be eager to arrest a slump in form that saw them drop to the bottom of the table.

Defending champions Ahly, who are eyeing a fifth consecutive league crown, won their opening four matches of the new campaign with a swagger, producing vivid attacking displays in the process.
They netted a staggering 14 goals in those matches, conceding only once.
Their seemingly irresistible form has earned Ahly s new coach Rene Weiler wide acclaim, although the team suffered a minor setback when they tasted their defeat under the Swiss, losing 1-0 to Tunisia s Etoile Sahel in their opening game of the African Champions League group stage.
They recovered with a 2-1 home win over Sudanese giants Al-Hilal and will be looking to continue their perfect domestic run at the expense of a struggling Degla outfit.
Degla are known for their swift passing game under Greek coach Takis Gonias but their defensive frailties often hamper them.
They made a poor start to the season, collecting just three points from six matches and conceding eight goals.
In addition to long-term absentees Mohamed Mahmoud and Mahmoud Metwalli, Ahly will also miss Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul as he still nurses an injury.
