Ahly chairman El-Khatib promises to bring new blood in January to stay on top

Egyptian football icon and Ahly chairman Mahmoud  Bibo  El-Khatib has expressed his sadness over the Red Devils  loss in the CAF Champions League final game against Tunisian giants Esperance, promising to bring new blood for the senior team during the winter transfer window.

Esperance overturned a 3-1 first leg deficit to earn a deserved 3-0 victory in the return match in Rades on Friday, securing the third title in their history with a 4-3 aggregate win.
 
"I respect Ahly fans  sadness after losing the CAF Champions League title," El-Khatib told the team s sports channel late on Sunday.
 
"I asked the technical staff for a full report about the first football team to discuss it as you all know the team needs some changes."
 
"We were forced to play with the current African squad, but now we are free to make changes in the player list," the Ahly chairman said.
 
"In January, we will provide huge support for the team s squad starting with the coming stage."
 
"We will rebuild the football sector depending on the technical staff reports," El-Khatib said.
 
"I want reassure the team s supporters that Ahly have a very good youth sector and I asked Adel Abdel-Rahman (Ahly s football youth sector director) to send me a full report about the youth teams,"
 
Ahly chairman El-Khatib also confirmed the club s board members will hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss the reasons for losing the African title and how to support the team for the coming events.
