To destroy a historic monastery

It is a crime against Egypt and Coptic relics that made silence no longer possible. Some people who are part of the regime are full of corruption and fanaticism that they threaten the alliance of June 30 not caring about the homeland, the religion or even our history.

The Monastery of Abu Al-Daraj dates back to the 4th century. It has several monuments including the well of Abu al-Daraj, which is used by the pilgrimages to Jerusalem. These monuments were documented by the Jesuit Father Maurice Martin after the discoveries of the French archeology mission in 1963 to 2005, which were published by the French Scientific Institute of Oriental Antiquities of the French Ministry of Culture.

The monastery was always a place of spiritual retreat of monks of St. Paul monastery in the Red Sea. In 2005, a decree was issued by the Minister of Culture and the Supreme Council of Antiquities to subject 276 feddans of the monastery to the Antiquities Authority.

The project of Jalala road was used to release the 276 feddans from the grab of the Antiquities Authority that belonged previously to investors. Corrupted officials interfered and started destroying the 1500 years old archaeological monastery.

However the Coptic Christians shed their blood in several terrorist attacks and accepted their suffering, they can’t allow corruption to destroy their heritage and prevent them from praying.

Who is the real governor of Upper Egypt and Suez? The armed forces always restore and renovate the buildings that are destroyed by the terrorists, but there are fanatic elements inside the regime that are responsible for the new attacks.
