Blessed are the peacemakers

Peace is more important than food for the world and our lives since the bible says: Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife. (Proverbs 17:1)

Pope Tawadros in his sermon about peace said that sin makes us lose our peace, and this first happened to Adam and Eve. In the Old Testament, Cain killed Abel and lost his peace. This is the way the world loses peace ever since. Therefore, we have to seek peace in our hearts first and then our homes, churches and community.

We have to tell our children about the important of peace, and they should know that peace is related to other virtues like love, Patience and wisdom. Let’s teach them to be peacemakers as God’s children. They should be taught that Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.

Church gives peace to our souls since it always prays for peace in its liturgical books. Moreover, peace of the community is a Christian demand.

There are many ways to get peace in our lives like a gentle answer to an angry person (A gentle answer turns away wrath,  but a harsh word stirs up anger.) (Proverbs 15:1)
Also, to void being angry as St. James said: My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. Moreover, we should learn how to forgive those who trespass against us.

Let’s pray that God may grant us peace in our lives, homes, churches and communities.
St. Isaac the Syriac said: If you are not a peacemaker, at least don’t cause troubles.
