The Egyptian citizen Magdy McCain was killed by people who were supposed to protect the rights and dignity of the Egyptians. The social media proved the negligence of normal media that refused to show the case to cover up for the regime especially after the killing of the Italian citizen Rogini.
The case of McCain proved that the Ministry of Interior returned to its practices before the revolution of January 25 by torturing the poor citizens and even killing them. Media, sponsored by businessmen, attacked the family of the victim and spread false information about him in order to save the police officer.
Oddly enough, there are members and organizations that want to turn the case into a sectarian issue so that the rights of the victim may be lost like many other Copts who were attacked, killed and even stripped off. Therefore, the visit of Bishop Makarious was used to claim the Pope is interfering in the case which was denied by the spokesperson of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The dead body of the victim revealed many facts about his death, but many people tried to distort his reputation in order to make the public opinion sympathize with the killer. In all cases, people have rights and shouldn’t be tortured in police stations.
Finally, the practices of some police officers are abuse for the Interior Ministry and the reputation of Egypt. We had two revolutions, but we need a third one against our conscious and disrespect of law.
