Egyptian Traditions Part IX

An other old old tradition of newly graduated youth looking for a job in far far away countries, Why? Cause the pay check month end equals more than 10 times they salary they would get in a similar job in Egypt! However the vital question here is “Is the cost of living in those countries as low as in Egypt?” Well in fact few years back in France I would get a cup of tea or coffee for almost 5 euros price should have gone up by now but I have no idea how much however the cup of tea or coffee would come with some pastry donuts or sweets this was included in the price but you do not have to eat them because you initially go to the coffee shop for a cup of coffee (or tea) I personally can not start my day before having at least a cup of tea! As a matter of fact today while I’m writing this I had so far 4 cups of tea! It’s still mid day and defiantly before day end I’ll have more tea and coffee as I love coffee as well but have no patience to make it! Egyptian coffee is not made of some boiling water and and Nescafe neither in a boiler called coffee maker with some grains of coffee to make American coffee or put grains of coffee in a separate compartment and let steam of water pass through them and be condensed to make the French coffee; No Egyptian coffee needs patience and hi tech management cold water mixed with the proper amount of sugar -just 1 spoon coffee and 1 spoon sugar for regular coffee or 1.5 sugar for sweet coffee or 2++ spoon of coffee for sweet sweet coffee- and let the mixture boil in low low fire and cook the grains of coffee but carefully remove it from fire seconds before boiling so we preserve the top of the coffee called FACE - wesh in Arabic-!

After this long long introduction I go back to 2 main points for this article first is to illustrate why salaries are way higher than local Egyptian salaries, cause the cost of living in those countries is way higher for instance, citizens there can not steal electricity or sleep in the streets to save money, they have to have a home equipped with water, electricity and central heating; Obviously such a home rent might take away 1/2 or more of your salary, no problem as long as all these facilities are functional and provide you with clean water, uncut power or necessary heat to live comfortable in those cold countries, obviously all necessary maintenance is provided by the authorities that recollect their expenses from the taxes you pay before even seeing your salary! Even merchants in supermarkets or private stores their cash registers are programmed to calculate the costs of their merchandising items the dues to to suppliers, and the taxes due before collecting any benefits for their business! So everyone gets paid on time! And this explains why your salary is hi because if I do not give you back your costs of living I’ll not find workers and I’ll bankrupt!

Well time now to rediscover the other Egyptian Tradition of staying in a coffee shop or going to coffee shops! This goes back to old old times when no electric machines to wash out clothes or clean up the house no radio was yet discovered and obviously no TV yet!  Men as usual since ever had to run here and there to provide food and the costs of living! House wives or women had to clean up to house and clothes and cook food if the house wife was lucky enough to have sisters and living mother she would get all the needed help, but she will help in turn her sisters and mother! So all day long house cleaning will consume the time! Not to talk of children if she had any! What a man after a long long day of working would do? Either help his wife in house cleaning or run away somewhere else to find some peace of mind until cleaning is done! That is how coffee shops started not just in Egypt but worldwide! However in France, Rome and everywhere else they kept developing including Egypt, they start offering meals, and other drinks hot or cold and even went to spiritual drinks, but soon enough Islam and Islamic religious leaders banned alcohol and coffee shops stepped back to coffee and other non alcoholic drinks, to remain just coffee shops people spend their times there! And it developed to include students escaping from schools or universities and employee not working but spending their times drinking tea and smoking hocks smelling drugs and taking Egypt down as the Mother Britain wanted since MI6 created Muslim Brotherhood to take down Egypt! However MI6 did not take in consideration that God Blessed Egypt and Egypt alone May God keep blessing Egypt and Egyptians and his peace be with you ALL forever and ever AMEN!
