Parliamentarian Yehia Kedwani called for social media companies to fulfill their crucial role in combating terrorism by preventing their platforms from being used to promote terrorism and killings.
Kedwani, who is the deputy head of the parliament’s National Security Committee, called on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to develop systems involving “smart oversight” of certain types of information exchanged through the internet.
The internet is being used to facilitate money laundering operations and funding terrorist groups, he added.
