Egypt’s armed forces celebrate June 30 anniversary with air shows
 
The Egyptian Armed Forces will perform air shows in Cairo and a number of governorates, celebrating the third anniversary of June 30 events that mark mass protests launched against the ex-regime of the Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, who was subsequently ousted on July 3, 2013.
 
Military bands will be holding concerts in public squares, and the Egyptian Navy will also perform water shows in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria.
 
Sadat metro station closed Thursday per security measures: Company
 
Egypt’s Metro Company decided to close Cairo’s downtown Sadat metro station Thursday per security instructions. Thursday marks the third anniversary of June 30 events that witnessed mass protests against former President Mohamed Morsi.   
 
Interior Ministry orders release of protesting high school students
 
A source at the Interior Ministry told Youm7 that high school students who were arrested during Wednesday protests were ordered released per a decision by Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar.
 
The decision meant to maintain the student’s future, according to the source.
 
The students staged protests against a decision by the Education Ministry to cancel and postpone their exams over question paper leaks on social media, saying the decision is “unfair” as they have nothing to do with the leaks.
 
Gov’t: June 30 official paid holiday for public, private sectors
 
The government has issued a decision to make Thursday an official paid holiday for both public and private sectors, in celebration of the third anniversary of June 30 incidents amid high security presence in the main squares and outside the public and vital institutions, Youm7 reported.
 
Cairo: free access to public gardens, open-top-bus tours Thursday
 
Cairo governorate will open all public gardens to visitors for free Thursday on occasion of the June 30 anniversary. There will also be open top bus tours around the governorate.
 
6K packets of fireworks seized ahead of Eid el-Fitr celebrations
 
Supply Police has managed to seize a total of 6,139 packets of smuggled fireworks whose possession is prohibited, few days ahead of celebrations of Eid el-Fitr (Breaking the fast) feast.
 
20 people arrested in Dakahlia over water supply clashes
 
Police have arrested 20 residents of Mersah Village in Dakahlia governorate, northeast of Cairo, who protested, and clashed with forces to prevent transmitting water from their network to another nearby village.  Residents have complained of water outage in their village for a long time.
 
Security forces have fired tear gas bombs to disperse residents’ gatherings, claiming residents have detained a first lieutenant.
 
National Research Center publishes 372 papers during 1st quarter of 2016
 
Ashraf Shaalan, the head of National Research Center (NRC,) told Youm7 that the center has published so far a total of 372 research papers during the first quarter of the year 2016.
