160KG of bad meat disappears after confiscation in Giza’s Beaulac

An investigation has been opened into the disappearance of 160 kilos of bad meat from inside Giza’s Beaulac’s district headquarters amid exchanged accusations by officials from the Health Ministry, the veterinary department and the district, Youm7 reported Tuesday.

A committee from the Health Ministry did not wait for a veterinary counterpart to receive 160 kilos of bad meat, which disappeared amid suspicions that it will be sold in the market, head of Beaulac district Osama al-Sakaan told Youm7.

Sakaan said he is confident enough to be investigated as his role “ended” when two cars loaded with the meat were delivered to the Health Ministry committee, which decided that the meat be neutralized before consulting with a veterinary group.

He added he has not been notified by Giza governorate that any official from the district has been referred to for investigation.

Deputy Giza Governor Alaa al-Harras told Youm7 an investigation has been opened as he expects the meat will be sold. The meat was previously seized from a woman in a street in Beaulac and brought to the district headquarters for inspection, Youm7 reported.
