The prosecution accused the detainees of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood, a “terrorist organization” in Egypt, inciting violence against state institutions, blocking roads and rioting.

On Monday, 30 people were arrested in the blue-collar neighborhood after the police spotted them getting out of a bus to “stage protests and chaos,” a security source told Youm7.

On the fourth anniversary of the Jan. 25 Revolution last year, Matariya witnessed the deaths of 12 people in clashes with the police Jan. 24-26, 2015. The police claimed the protesters were not locals of the district.
