The court also fined two eyewitnesses LE500 ($66) for failing to attend the session.

Fahmy and Mohamed were released in February on bail pending retrial after spending over 400 days behind bars.

Their release came days after the deportation of co-defendant Australian journalist Peter Greste on 1 February.

The three journalists were sentenced to 7-10 years in June 2014 before a court ordered a retrial in January 2015.

The two journalists face charges of spreading false news and aiding the banned Muslim Brotherhood group in a trial that has involved a total of 18 defendants.
