30 defendants acquitted of attacking protestors in June 30

The South Cairo Criminal Court directed Thursday an acquittal verdict for 30 defendants on charges of possessing bladed weapons during the clashes of the June 30 Revolution, Youm7 reported.The South Cairo Criminal Court directed Thursday an acquittal verdict for 30 defendants on charges of possessing bladed weapons during the clashes of the June 30 Revolution, Youm7 reported.

The legal ground of the acquittal has not been released yet; the prosecution accused the defendants, among which two are fugitive, of carrying pocketknives to attack peaceful demonstrators outside the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau in Cairo’s Moqattam district.
 
The defendants were arrested in a charitable organization’s headquarters before the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi On July 3, 2013.
 
Four Muslim Brotherhood leaders were sentenced to life imprisonment in December 7 over charges of inciting violence, killing and attempting to murder protesters outside the Muslim Brotherhood’s headquarters, where deadly clashes erupted in July 2013 and claimed the lives of nine people.
 
The case is known publicly as “attacks of the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters.”
