During Sunday’s session, defense lawyer Mohamed el-Damaty complained his microphone was cut off, and claimed it was on purpose to prevent him from talking. Judge Mohamed Nagi refused Damaty’s claims, and called them lies.

Nagi also said the Prison Authority did not execute a court’s decision to refer the defendants to the Forensic Authority. When he was asked by the defense lawyer of defendant Mohamed Sultan about the Forensic Authority report, Nagi said he had not received it, and would take action against the Prison Authority for not sending it.

Along with Sultan, Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie is also among the defendants in the case.

Sultan has been on hunger strike for over 250 days demanding his release. When his health conditions worsened, Sultan was transferred to an intensive care unit in Tora Prison.

The defendants are facing charges of establishing an operation room to confront the State and spread chaos following the dispersal of two Brotherhood sit-ins at Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Square in August 2013.
