Ezzat Ibrahim, a human rights activist in Minya, said that about 2,000 people had gathered around Coptic homes in Ezbet Yacoub in order to attack them.
However police have arrived two hours later, they were lucky to prevent the attack before it starts.
A customary reconciliation session to be held soon to resolve the dispute erupted after a church was built without license.
