These investigations were ordered after the verdict issued by Cairo Court for Urgent Matters to ban Hamas’ activities in Egypt.

The sources revealed that the Egyptian authorities intend to revoke the Egyptian citizenship from any Palestinians affiliated to Hamas. They said the security institution works to collect information about the Palestinians to know whether they are involved in any terrorist actions or not.

The authorities are scheduled to withdraw the citizenship from those affiliated with Hamas, in response to the verdict to ban Hamas’ activities in Egypt. The decision was taken by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab since it is related to the national security in Egypt.

They added that ousted President Mohamed Morsi worked to challenge the National Security Agency by transferring its officers to marginal sectors to stop them from monitoring the entry of Hamas’ members into Egypt. The security reports said a number of Hamas’ members who took the Egyptian citizenship were recently involved in terrorist attacks in Egypt.

A judicial source said the government has no right to drop the citizenship of any citizen without revealing the reasons why. He said the decision to revoke the citizenship of any citizen is related to national security.
