Egypt's prime minister visits Saudi Arabia

Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem El-Beblawi left Cairo for Saudi Arabia on Tuesday morning, for discussions on bilateral relations between the two countries.

El-Beblawi was accompanied by Egypt's ministers for housing, petroleum, transportation, planning, and investment, state agency MENA reported.

The Egyptian delegation will meet with their Saudi counterparts to discuss possible ways to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

Saudi Arabia welcomed the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last summer with open arms, hailing what Egyptian authorities describe as a new roadmap to democracy.

Egypt’s Interim President Adly Mansour visited Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah last October.

The Saudi government has been bolstering the Egyptian economy since the July ouster of Morsi by delivering funds to Egypt's Central Bank.

In January, Al-Ahram daily reported that Saudi plans to give Egypt up to $4 billion additional aid in the form of bank deposits and petroleum products.
