Beltagy allowed to see his sons after court session

Shubra el-Kheima Criminal Court allowed Mohamed el-Beltagy a family visit on Monday after the judge postponed the trial of 48 defendants, including 12 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders, to Feb. 15 in the case of cutting the Qalyub highway.Shubra el-Kheima Criminal Court allowed Mohamed el-Beltagy a family visit on Monday after the judge postponed the trial of 48 defendants, including 12 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders, to Feb. 15 in the case of cutting the Qalyub highway.

During Monday’s court session, Beltagy shouted from inside the court cage that he and all the defendants were denied visitors without a clear explanation, adding that they were “politically abducted” and not imprisoned for criminal cases.

Beltagy demanded that he and other suspects on this case be treated like “pending investigations prisoners” and allowed to have visitors.

The head of court replied that he would be allowed to meet with his family after the current session.

After the head of court allowed Beltagy’s sons to meet with him after the court session, Beltagy thanked the judge, saying that this was the first time that he ever felt he was in front of a court.

The next trial session will revisit the continued imprisonment of all the defendants, except for a minor at high school who was released.
